Depending on what you want to do -- from designing to retailing -- there are many paths you can take to get to your destination.

But the majority of clothing and accessories that are designed, manufactured and sold have absolutely nothing to do with the glitzy shows associated with famous designers.

WHY I STILL LOVE FASHION.....MAY BE NOT RETAIL BUT OTHER ASPECTS OF FASHION met up with an old friend of mine from sec school, i admire him cos he is really into his passion. a self made dj.everytime i catch up with him i learn something n my passion is revived n stirred up. he said something that stuck in my head. "bro i think u are over qualified to be in retail or selling clothes." u should love other aspects of fashion, like fashion consultant or something.. i recommended him a shop in tampines that sell good hats n we went,shopping in uniqlo haha i did not buy annything but we were like partners he shop n we gave opinions of the clothing here n there.then we went 77th street n he blatantly flirted with the fillipino shop assistant haha to buy a custom made chain. so we went to fish n co n he treated me the meal ...aw he should not have. haha. he also mention that i could consider being his fashion consultant like how i help him with the matching of hats . but just as a friend but sholud get a chance to meet new people in his circle of contacts.he also suggestes i do my own website ..to reach a global audience like how the hat shop don even have a proper website like only singapore.like how he says is a waste. btw got some jobs offered to me. selling lee jeans n telemarketer. n my friend who has a markettign friend in a big company. well whether side lined or not , its for the sake of my passion n money to shop n travel.. haha. righ from the start ,when i discovered fashion was my passion,i appreciate it in retail.some ask me to be a fashion designer but i got no desire to design things.i just love being in a shop environment than in an office.

i know a debate where some people might add online shopping sometimes have goods that local shops cannot get n are cheaper.but i don agree ,some remote or small shops which i consider as a shop also might bring in cheap n unique stuff.as a customer i find walking into an actual shop n marvelling at the good s n display items. i also like to look at the renovation n theme of every individual shop..even my old working place auntie who owns the shopsaid next year shops will close down n every one will go online to buy ..is to the extreme which i strongly beg to differ.

take 1 brand uniqlo for example when they 1st open ,there was a lot of hype generated n the sales surpass all expectations on the 1st day.i have never seen that amount of people queing up to see the shop.

my dream if possible is to open up chain of stores n a flagship store . my brand would be called plus one(plus god) for the sake of my passion for fashion, i wolud be contented to open just 1 or 2 stores in singapore but making sure the goods are very unique so regulars will come back. the 1 or 2 stores not only is my living but hobbie n to share the shop with my gf or wife.

if i cant make it for the orchard ion , i would try to convince my mum to sponser me a push cart (my friend ravi in far east plaza advise me to start small)or small corner shop in a cheap rent haha

i tried talking to her but to no avail. she n my dad still advise me to work for people.

my dream is to go hk n thailand to get stock for my own business.cos if cant work for people, this is my only hope .whether the business is a failure is another thing. i iwll learn n gain experienc my self.the smalll shop will be my means of living n will be my way of life ,at least am doing something i like doing myown business.

i know of a auntie who owns a shop that thinks that next year everyone will do online shopping n not go to shops , that is the extreme which i strongly beg to differ. retail shops will always be around ....

there is only 2 ways to make the side n top thin which is to cut botak which u can see in my pic

or keep long hair n tie up

-but now cos of my job i wanna look more presentable as more than 1 person tod me is like

not sure whether employers will accept the botak look but am growing my hair to see if the

tide changes haha although one of my cousin said i look good with the ultra short hair but u

as u all know by now shophaus is closing end of dec 2008. it is a good thing as i can have a change of environment ,new people new experiences but my focus is always on fashion or fashion retail. met up this hongkonger in the shop today , he is a director of entertainment company in hk .lambert lui, he ask me 1stly why close shop haha cos my boss wanna close , if i had savings i would have taken over the shop cos i already have in mind wht t bring in n sell. go bangkok every month n hong kong 2 times a year but thats all a dream , i rather rely on my own finances n work for people , given right opputuninty i will open my open shop possibly when i reach 30 years . i have to be observant in the fashion world wht is selling n not .lambert s company is union, he is in charge of event management, music production, dance studio,talents, creative service. so honoured he ask me to call him when i reach hk . he will give me some tips on fashion, n will support me when i open shop i nfuture,

today went to cheeks after not going there for 2 months, ravi showed me a new shop named "the corner shop"wow my 1st impression was like its such a cool deco unique design, never seen b4 , immediately ,my desire to open up mine sprung up .my dad was an interior designer said could help me in future haha . ravi advised me no 1 for any successful shop should be the products then comes deco not the other way round. credit should be given to the corner shop with such unique desing but the items ravi felt were too little displayed.n he claim they were trying to make something normal -limited edition. haha
travelling to australia in 0ct 8 ,means36 days left haha yes i will buy stuff for everyone man.

yeh!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am going australia inoct 8 confirm 0030 midnight at terminal 3 .but thats not the best part ,my very good friend tim has changed job n his new job requires a lot of travelling, therefore he has to go on business trips thus asking me to join him . he is going hk,india,uk n australia.if he is sent to hk i wiwl follow him,said free lodging provided haha , he will work while i go shopping alone in hk bringing back things to sell at my shop.he most prob work till6 office hours then we can meet up for dinner , only funny thing on the plane we wont be seated same class , haha he business ,i economy haha cos his is sponser mine is not haha

in my feb hk trip my weight was like 58 ,59 .. so sunken , now i am proud to conclude my weight is 64 !!!!!due to my change of lifestyle n the hospital stay haha

doctor said i have a mood problem n i need medication t stabilise it. he said could be many factors , stress (my sis lyna said cos of liz) or could be i think too much ,

guess i will just follow my boss advice n don think bout unnecessary things but focus on my work .n must take my medication reguraly. no one not even the doctor knew what happend

ONLY GOD KNOWS . n i will live day by day.

realised i have not updated my blog for nearly so long ,b4 my hk trip till now.well my experience there cant be decribed in mere words.but fortuanate to have a cheap package that covers airfare n hotel. n the hotel room was generously spacious compared to my cousin 's smu uni exchange hostel room space haha.

there are many notable diff between hong kong n singapore. 1(hongkong) 2(singapore)

their main languages are cantonese,chinese,english

our languages are english,malay,chinese,tamil

1.the ration of girls to guys is probably 4:1

singapore most pro equal no of both sexes.

1.their transport system is more complex than singapore (with hills n slopes n diff track n roads intersecting, n they have an underwayre subway linking to their island)

2.very straighforward road s n transport system

1.girls there not only have good complexion,good facial features, n dress up vey well (maybe due to the seasons, (season s are not a good excuse to compromise the standards of how u express your personal style in how u dress up

2singapore girls take the effort to dres up more than guys(sadly its a fact even featured in a channel u programme )people if not guys are so busy making money they forget to devote some time to dress up n buy new clothes, but the trend is slowly picking up,. just look around don blame the hotweather, even mid temperatures guys are seen around wearing shorts n t shirts

channel u interviewed this expat a cacausian aho lived in singapore for a long period of time.i was so embarassed as a local not for myself but for those convicted of the fashion crime haha she quoted singapores dress too casually, no proper dress code. they dress the same for the market , outin n other evnts ,1 every event should have a diff dress code.

although a good looking person can probably carry off every kind of clothes, but least to say its not an excuse to dress up shabbily like slippers . i rem the expat saying some people she does not think check themselves in the mirror b4 they go out n this is not even being vain .

Fashion is bout being ur own style , express yourself through the clothes u wear don even need to be branded , but people will notice whether a particular individual takes their time to even dress up.

hk clothes follow korea or japan , n the stuff are made in hk or japan , those high end like zara made in turkey . no thailand stuffi come across.

singapore clothes mostly made in thailand cos its so cheap to bring over near the region, thats why i support local designers like my friends roots tees (u guys inviting to ur wedding soon ya.)singapores are more cautious when purchasing n many people don like stuff from thailand when they themselves can get it there cheaper , even my bro ravi echoed this

i believe the bottomline of every clothes wherever its made ,has to be the product itself . though i agree certain people have a taste for diff levels of clothes , like my cousin only likes zara n those high end ,even topman too low class for him what more giordano haha i wanna work in a place or environment where i can express my style through the clothes i wear . my cousins likes high ends suits cos he is a finance student at smu

my style is more towards casual ,or mix with casula n smart.i love mixing my style with jeans.vests cardigans n a beanie.

what an off day posible by my boss shawna , my best off day ever did so many things ,

1st went shopping at far east at cheeks did not go there so long , immediately had chemistry with

these three japanese girls who are students from japan .no language barrier whosoever.they just

cant bear to leave , haha ravi told me they like me haha m ravi nicknamed me ajinomoto . haha

n often they giggle n laugh n mentioned my name ajinomoto. n they also took some picturse with

their high tech 4.5 g phone using their phonewith me one by one especially mika (who apear in

most pics with me. mika keeping looking my eyes (they say eyes are windows to a person souls)

although i only interacted with them for nearly 2 hours plus they keep teasing me n ask me to

try on mask ,ties ,hat hahaha i was telling ravi, they are so sweet , not snobbish so diff from

singaporean girls ,some are stuck up n dontknow what they looking for in a guy

i told some of my close friends , liz is the last singaporean girl i am going to try, what for waste

time on local girls who don appreciate me for who i am , i am just trying to be in love to fill my

void of loneliness even somethings my passion fashion still feel emptiness , iam not a teenager

anymore.

focus on my work
get a driving license
get a gf
in the meantime work hard n prepare my own retail shop in future

1. my secret to doing well for my work , is to enjoy looking good, when i think that i look good , i will feel good n thus it reflects on my outside.i become happier. haha. get more cardigans n vests as they are essential key s to cross casual n smart clothing n style. learn of new ways to cross casual n smart using cardigans n vests.

2.aiming to pass my basic theory 1st ,signing up for trial tests in school n going for the basic theory test in feb,once i pass my basic theory , its one way street all the way cos i can take practical lessons n i love practical as i am practical person .iwill enjoy my practical lessons .

3.working on the friendship with liz, my bro from church amos told me if me n liz are comfortable with each other , eventually we will have time to get to know each other better , no rush stay friends 1st n don let feelings involve in the friendship.am planning to ask her to meet up when her overseas trip for some cheoro graph is over she is back on 31st will ask her after that .

4. if i cant find a gf to open shop with me i will have to save money cos i already have the theme for my future shop.so far shohaus is vintage n retro feel , am working more towards the casual n smart look n wear.next couple of years , i would love to travel overseas to source n check out casual n smart wear ,mainly for unique cardigans n vests . cos these 2 are accessories to match casual n smart.maybe start with thailand.(next year maybe going hongkong with my cousins to shop may check out the scene there too.)i got to travel more n gain more exposure for fashion stuff.i will travel with someone maybe a close friend

yes finally 1 of my soccer team friend captain , old friends from high school drove all the way to sengkang to pass me no 2 jersey so proud(actually he was on his way haha sending his gf off

today i had a great day at work cos was busy serving customers n a great visitor

in the form of hid s sister zahra, she dropped by with her classmate at nyp ,

apparently they have graduated form nyp n working in sgh .i told zahra that

my mum was a nurse also since i was born ,n my mum is working at ttsh .

though i am still finding the answer one can have a balanced life between work n

love, i choose to concentrate n take my boss advice . to work hard then girls will

notice. i know some people may juggle love n work n excel in both of them well

today is truly a great day of awakening n re enforcing my prioritys in life.
one of the best advice my dad has given me in life one must prioritise.
my neighbour shop janice 's husband adi told me one must have a balanced life
work n play at the same time. i don really mix business with pleasure kind of
person but admit can be distracted sometimes.either by girls or other hobbies.
can a person really strike a healthy balance between love , hobbie , work , play
n excel in all of them at the same time without crossing the line ?? i am still
finding the answer.for instance i wanted to join my old soccer team which
founded in my sec school eufc,(now my soccer pals comprises of nus ,smu ,sim
or already working) this so called league is not for the faint hearted or just
play play. the are 12 teams n every one has a body count to account for.
the reason i wanted to join initially cos i know this will further challenge
my passion for the game as i need to jog regularly to build up stamina
n also play as much street soccer for experience.but sadly i had to let go
as my retail job requires flexibilty in time slot which means its yes or no
every sat no halfhearted.one of the main reasons why cos the team needs
to grow n bond together n gain valuable experience as each match progresses
if i just play every month when i am available the team cant adapt to my playing
style.playing good soccer, not only includes , watchin their movements on tv
or playing yourself amonst friends or jogginf to build up stamina,
the experience has to be consistant in the long run to actually learn something.
.well another of my socccer team may join back next year that does not require
that much commitment , i will pray i can be involved in soccer as much as poss
my passion for soccer was kinda revived when i read fai s entry bout joning all
girls soccer team. she is also busy career lady but may find time to train on fri
.as for girls (my pal ravi quote):go do n experient more things while u are still
young,n only if a girl has some interests in u then REALLY CONSIDER
other wise dont look for love .i agree,my soccer buddy paul once asked me

"please call me back quickly" . my heart pounded,my soccer friend was very eager to reach me.

i was suppose to be committed to join the soccer team ,consisting of my old sec school friends,

they joined a league consisiting of 10 teams, n every sat will have matches.n trainings during the

week.but i only have myself to blame for being booted out, i did not go last sat,cos i no money

to buy new boots ,but thats not the point. was suppose to go down to support the guy

nevertheless, n showed the other teammates i was sincere in joing back the team by giving

committment.The captain paul even told me he spoke up good words for me n was

disappointed when i did not show up.1 reason why i wanna join this team is cos the new epl

season is coming up, n u guys know soccer has also always been one of my great passion.

i asked my colleagues what else they do besides working on their off days , they said nothing

.well i am not satisfied with just working at least 5 days a week 8 hours a day,i wanna join

the soccer team for that very reason to keep myself more busy,i only had myself to blame

for being booted out(paul assures we are still great buddies despite all this) n he allowed me to

retain n but his new jersey no2 n invites me to join his friendies matches.

i cant imagine what i iwill miss playing left back on the field since not every sat i cant commit

sigh...u lose something u gain somethin, now that hid left i wanna ask shawna to let me work 6

week.i just dont feel contented with my life...not busy enough . one off day is enough.

i rather earn money for the shop then go out n spend.

well thats why starting tonight , i will be rushing home after work to jog with my friend near our

neighbourhood, to sweat it out n DESTRESS. i don wanna relive my stress on some one or

had a tiring day , cos was at shop serving plus 2 of our competitors did not open today so maybe got peple flock to our shop, everyday i meet people from all walks of life , today a customer who recognised eve from the wedding photo from the shop said he is eve s friend n bought a little miss chatterbox for most pro his gf .

next stop, iam so happy that the small boy justin is no longer angry over eating his sweets , promised to get him mentos tom when he visits me in the shop.

well, my birthday is here n pass, people may ask me what i WISH. contuary to many peoples opinion that my bday wish is to get a gf ,my answer is no, not a gf.

ok , ican set aside some money to spend as my best friend n parents giving me some birthday money for my birthday.
i started off the day with lunch with timothy at kfc at suntec,then i went to marina square ,b4 heading to far east to buy the cardigan,it looks damn nice man.the went bugis to buy a replacement ear phone.then bought 3 white choclate belgian muffins for hid ,(hoping to cheer her up)when i reach shophaus. hid shared with me her thoughts n feeling towards she n her bf.
then nadia came n we cheered hid up together
then i took a cab to far east which i regretted,peak hour plus jam =10 bucks!!
then i went to buy the vest from ravi again.
then nadia brought me to this cardigan shop. full of cadigans!!!!!!!then the sales girl happen to recognise me as she came with her bf to our shop b4.

i planned to meet my old friend while i was in nyp for 3months . knew him when i repeated one subject n he was from multimedia n he was the most friendly person in the class haha

GUESS its not every body 's cup of tea.almost the people i interviewed when working, or

asking the cab driver.the customers whom i asked in the shop said they spent finished their

gst money. one customer buying the jeans said everything will indirectly go back to the bills n

taxes paid.the taxi driver i asked complained he is fed up with singapore's government ,that gst

is not helping at all. making the cost of living singapore inevitably higher.

he told me he has 3 kids n they re 2 around 20 plus studying in australia,n when the right

opptunity strikes ,he will emigrate they sooner or later.

well i agree with him n diagree with him.i agree the cost of living is very high ,even taking a toll

to the middle income families.my dad had a old friend asking him to work in holland in a

restaurant.i told my dad its not a good idea.cos he ever worked as a waiter when he was my

age in holland b4.

i personally feel no country in the world is perfect.(a perfect country will be inperfect the

my sis nadia told me her dad was also afftected by gst n wanted to emigrate to brunei

cos there u can buy a car for each person in the family.my dad told me to get a car license

n standby. (i rather wanna be known as a guy who can drive than owns a car)

cars in singapore are not cheap .even my friend who is an auditor(5 figure pay) wanted to buy a

car but decided its more thrifty in the long run to take cabs taxis or public transport

haha comeon ,got 1st hand from one taxi driver they have to work like hell man since

the gst rebate, so give them more bi=suiness take more public transport for heavens sake

i am contented just to have a car license as a standby for my future sales or fashion trip s

overseas in future. my dad discourage me strongly agaainst motor bikes as its very dangerous

(no offense its his opinion n he is entitled to it n i agree.) (my dad sholud know.he works in the

car line business, selling cars . even his boss n him knows cars are not cheap,since they are

given company cars to drive.

after getting the car license , i will still take public transport n support our uncles in cabbies

yesterday ,the shophaus family gathered all together for the 1st time ,n the staff gathered at

fullerton starbucks to discuss bout our future to shophaus.i still choose to remain at shophaus n

hope to expand the name as it s only growing less than a year,unless the bosses throw in the

towel.i will still continue to work in a retail shop environment as i need the experience, n i enjoy

working in a retail shop.lyna n nadia understand that the bosses are very nice n understanding

people but know that cos of their school timing n availaibility to work shophaus is changing as

days go by ,they may look for diff pastures or change of environment.hid is working till july the

most ,n will start her real job after graduation.

yes we lost 3 -2 but had a credible performance through 2 goals from open play. my teammate

ian gave away 2 penaltys with his handball . non intentional as the ball shooting towards his face

more like a reflex action.the opponents only managed to score 1 goal through open play . there

were fights n pushing n the referee had to flashed a few yellow cards .

the pitch was good condition ,weather perfect. but only our temperament had to be in check.

haha. i assisted the 1st goal ,me playing left back the whole 90 mins.i have learnt not to

commit when players approaching me, n to follow my other fellow defenders in the line.

n when theY attacking from the left, its ok to leave the right flank(me facing them in the left)

n concentrate on centre n leave that left marker alone. cos if the they cross from one flank

to the other must take some time b4 reaching the opposite flank.

all my old buddies arrived one by one either through their bikes, race loOKING SPORTS cars or vans

(man i should get my license soon man ican do it!!! haha to standby not necessary to buy a car

haha)we underestimated the older oppponenets ,mostly all sisikhs or sings. we did warmups , n

i had to jog a few rounds to warm up, too bad we gave away 2 silly penaltys if not we could have

won. each person has to pay the ref 7 bucks. BUT TODAYS GAME WAS NOT BOUT WINNING

OR LOSING, ITS BOUT ENJOYING FOOTBALL, N CATCHING UP N A GOOD
